Chapter 1: Life as a Soldier

Noel was born on a star far away from Etheirys in which her people known as Khait Seif were oppressed and forced to serve the humans which invaded their homeland. While her childhood was rather uneventful, at the age of twelve Noel was given a choice by the human enforcers who oversaw the Khait population. Either she enlist into their army and fight for the corrupt ideals of her nation or wallow away in a breeding camp mating and bringing new soldiers to fight in the constant wars the humans kindled in their goal of conquest. Seeing the state of the breeding camps, Noel chose to be a soldier and fight in the hopes that she may buy independence through dedicated service. However, she was surprised when she was brought into the folds of the military lifestyle as humans and Khait slept and fought alongside each other, united by the fires of war just on the horizon. She grew comfortable with this bond shared between the two separate races and saw her fellow soldiers as family and dear comrades in her time of service that lasted roughly fifteen years. In that time, she saw the depths of how depraved her nation's goals were while also witnessing the horrors conflict brought about in other nations. Strangely enough, there was one nation filled with a barbaric tribe of hearty peoples that seemed almost oblivious to how war can corrupt one's soul. In fact, these people seemed to flourish in these times of hardship. Of course, these people also held a strange belief that a blue bird was an omen that a great hero had a duty to fulfil elsewhere. Coincidentally, Noel happened upon an oddly fascinating bird in her travels whose feathers shone with a blue hue. So, she took the creature in as a companion in her travels as she visited this barbaric people in hopes of negotiating a ceasefire with the humans to the north. Instead, what Noel was met with was an odd ceremony in which these people urged her to go elsewhere because what she was unaware of was that the humans had planned on obliterating these people and she was to be the sacrificial lamb that eased their minds to it. The odd chanting of the people soothed Noel to a deep sleep and when she awoke. She found herself in a strange land where the sun shined and the hot desert winds swept across arid plains. It was nothing like she had seen before and if anything, it almost appeared as if she had ventured backwards in time.

Chapter 2: Far From Home

Noel wandered this strange new land wary of every person who might approach as anyone could be her enemy. What she found, however was that she was in a land known as Thanalan and upon careful interactions with the locals. Noel was quickly urged to assist with a bandit threat looming over a small settlement near Horizon. It was there that she met another Khait from this strange land, a woman named Selene Kagami who helped in dispatching the bandits along with urging Noel to join a guild known as the Mystic Knights. Seeing as there were precious little other options, Noel obliged and quickly learned that the nation at large was known as Eorzea. One which she hardly recognized from any maps that she had seen in her lifetime. She soon came to grow comfortable with her new life as a Mystic Knight, but the looming desire to return home always lingered with her as she fell in love with Kagami and their relationship blossomed further from there. That is, until after Noel had proposed that she received the news that not only was she marooned on a foreign star, but her home was dead and desolate. So, she decided it would be best to part ways with both Kagami and the Knights in order to explore this new star along with finding her own way in life. Along the way, she took on the career path of a freelance mercenary. Now, she continues to travel alone in search of new adventure and perhaps to learn more of her new home.
